Blade & Soul, Character Creation

Blade & Soul owes much of its renown to the fact that it possesses a deep character creation system, allowing players to create some the most beautiful and gorgeous avatars in the MMO genre.

This is especially true for female characters, as shown in this article.

But unfortunately, or fortunately for some, the opposite is also true. Players are effectively able to create characters with extremely amusing, and even unappealing, traits. This allows for comical and unsightly creations that will both please and displease.

The following youtube video by YouTube user and Twitch Streamer Pvt Wiggles showcases the different hilarious character creation possibilities.

Blade & Soul

According to NCSoft, the translation of Blade & Soul was not without multiple rebalancing involved, the cause of the late release of MMO in the West. Given the density of the narrative and its specific context (Wuxia), the publishers needed a team entirely dedicated to ensuring that the text, making up more than three million words, respected the cultural difference between of players in the West. Upon its release, Blade & Soul will be entirely translated and dubbed in English, French and German (the original Korean language should arrive later in a special pack). The dubbing work was overall quite good, although we may regret some exaggerations in the English dubbing, probably due again to the very context of the game.

Available as a free-to-play for all, the title will use introduce the Ncoin currency, already used in other games of the NCsoft catalog such as Lineage II and Aion. This currency will allow players to buy consumables like experience potions or food, character slots or inventory expansions, as well as multiple cosmetic items in the form of outfits and pets. The game will also introduce another form of currency, obtainable in the game this time, allowing players to purchase these same consumables, expansions and cosmetics, although you can’t expect to be able to afford them overnight. Established for the Western market, a premium membership will also be available. Premium players will benefit from various improvements such as a boost in the experience or money obtained in the game through different buffs that will evolve depending on the frequency of their purchases in the cash shop, a way to reward their financial investment. The publisher nevertheless states that this system will not grant players any competitive advantages.

Featuring a vast world to explore lush with a very pleasant range of air travel, and stranded in a scenario that, while undoubtedly cliché, but unflinchingly embraces the principles of Wuxia, Blade & Soul has already carved itself a place in the hyper competitive market of free-to-play MMORPGs, and in the heart of dynamic gameplay enthusiasts.

Dungeons – blade and sould Part I

Dungeons in Blade & Soul allow players to group up for challenging instanced content. From normal questing, daily challenges, or a desire to obtain a rare element needed to improve your weapons’ power, you’ll regularly be sent in to defeat a dungeon’s denizens. Each dungeon is categorized by their overall difficulty: Normal, Challenging, and Heroic. These three designations indicate how well prepared you and your group should be before entering.

Standard 6-player dungeons offer a straightforward challenge for any group, but also allow for any number of players to enter—including the ability for particularly well-prepared and confident players the difficult possibility of soloing it. While it’s possible to complete a Normal or even Challenging dungeon with fewer than all 6 players, a Heroic dungeon will almost always demand a full party to succeed.

There are also max-level 4-player versions of some dungeons; the 4-player versions are a separate and more difficult mode that can only be accessed by setting your party to 4-player mode (as opposed to the default 6-player mode). Aside from the increased difficulty of just having fewer players, the bosses do more damage, have more health, and have new mechanics you won’t see in the normal 6-player version. This more difficult option also doesn’t allow players to resurrect using Dragonblood and most indicators for enemy attacks have been removed. 4-player dungeons offer vastly increased chances at obtaining rare items for the vastly increased difficulty, and also contain some items that can’t be obtained at all from the 6-player version.
